Summary
The CMS-ACAP Secretariat serves the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP), a legally binding international agreement developed under the framework of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS). Based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, the Secretariat coordinates the implementation of ACAP, which entered into force in 2004 and seeks to conserve albatrosses, petrels, and shearwaters by addressing threats such as fisheries bycatch, habitat degradation, marine pollution, and declines in prey availability. The Secretariat supports meetings of the Parties, the Advisory Committee, and specialist working groups, facilitates scientific research and information exchange, and promotes international cooperation among ACAP's Parties.
